Nonprofit Seminars

Silicon Valley SCORE is offering seminars about starting and managing a nonprofit service organization or agency. The Seminars are designed to provide a comprehensive overview of essential elements to help start and grow a successful nonprofit. During this economic crisis an emphasis is focused on surviving this critical time.

SCORE consultants, with nonprofit experience in Silicon Valley, present these seminars for starting and running a successful nonprofit, even in difficult times.

  • January 30 & August 27, 2012 - Nonprofit Financials: This course will focus on identifying and understanding required financial reports and filings for non-profit organizations. The course will also provide insights on budgeting, cash flow, financial analysis and accounting systems. Tax matters and the avoidance of scary tax and regulatory problems will be an important take away from our seminar.  Overall, the seminar should provide a good introductory framework for non-profit entrepreneurs and professionals.

  • April 30, September 10, 2012 – Nonprofit Funding:  What your nonprofit does,-your programs,-is the highest priority for any nonprofit manager.. Fundraising is the second.  Learn methods and techniques for raising funds.

  • July 30, 2012 – Nonprofit Management: This course discusses roles and responsibilities of the Board, Board Chair, Executive Director, Staff and Volunteers using the Strategic Plan and Mission as the basis.

  • October 22, 2012 – Nonprofit Planning-Strategic & Business Plans: Strategic planning is clarifying the purpose of an organization, where the organization wants to be in the future and how it is going to get there. The Business Plan details the goals and actions necessary to accomplish the Mission and Vision of the Strategic Plan. Elements and methods to create these for 2013 will be discussed.

Counseling for nonprofits: Silicon Valley SCORE members, with nonprofit experience in Silicon Valley, offer counseling for nonprofits. Counseling sessions can be requested with the following experienced members: Nadera Alam, Wally Dale, John Edwards, Gerry Fields, Bob Goedjen, Nev Griffin, Ray Noble, Jack Maxfield, Chuck Stees, Lori Trippel, and Jak Van Nada.
