This class is designed for business people to help them understand the basics of marketing and selling their product or service. It describes what marketing is and what it is supposed to do. It shows how marketing provides the strategic basis for successful sales. It explains how to make customers aware of your business and how to make them clients. It explains selling skills and the do’s and don’ts of selling. This seminar teaches sales skills for those who are going to sell the product or service for your company. It is a good basic overview of the selling process for all small businesses and the principles are universal. Any owner/ manager in a small business should take this course, to both sell the product or service and direct others who are hired to do so. It emphasizes the need to understand what is important to the customer so that the product or service is presented to satisfy customer needs and to maximize the perceived value.

About The Course Instructors:

Mark Levi

Mark graduated with a BSEE degree from Purdue University. His 50 year career was focused in the Semiconductor Industry with extensive management experience in both Sales and Sales management as well as marketing and strategic planning both in the US, in Europe and in Asia. After being the Sales Manager at Motorola Semiconductor he went on to serve as Vice President of Marketing in the Analog and Automotive Divisions of National Semiconductor. Mark was the VP of European Sales and the Group Director of the Microprocessor Division at National. He also served as Senior VP of marketing at Zarlink Semiconductor. He continued to consult in marketing and sales to various semiconductor clients before joining SCORE. Mark has extensive experience in market research and strategic planning for small businesses.

Wendy Lazar

Wendy has over 30 years of business experience. She co-authored two books about women in home-based businesses, which drew national media attention as the first to recognize home businesses as opposed to cottage industries. For 26 years, she owned a direct mail and e-commerce business aimed at military, police and fire units around the world. Wendy has lectured extensively on creating and growing a business, sales and marketing, and work and family issues. She earned her BS degree at Syracuse University, then started her career as a broadcast journalist in New York and Japan

Judith Weiss

Judith has an undergraduate degree from Princeton University and her Master's Degree from Columbia University. Her experience includes being the Vice President of Marketing at Aramark Corporation as well as Manager of Product Development and Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Conrail. Her expertise includes brand development and management, strategic planning and data mining, marketing communications, web development, customer service, credit analysis and collections. In the area of sales Judith has been a sales manager, account manager and literally every position that deals with identifying and closing customer contracts. She firmly believes that every business succeeds or fails based on its customer service focus.
