SCORE - Volunteering
How You Can Help
The Silicon Valley SCORE Chapter is looking for
men and women with significant business
experience as owner and operator of a small
business or executive level experience with
larger companies.
Volunteers to SCORE
provide:
-
Counseling and
mentoring to small companies
-
Presenting business
topics at workshops and seminars
-
Coordinating special
events such as trade shows, speaking
engagements, etc.
-
Managing the SCORE
business information center
-
Developing SCORE
marketing programs
-
Helping to keep the
SCORE organization running.
What SCORE expects from its volunteers
Volunteers agree to
contribute at least 16 hours per month for the
activities described above. Volunteers are
required to sign a non-conflict of interest
ethics code. The office is managed by volunteers
from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Counseling is
normally scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Seminars are presented in the evening from 5:00
to 8:00 p.m. and during the week are presented
from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Volunteers
schedule mentoring sessions with clients at
mutually agreeable times and locations.
Counseling and mentoring can be in support of a
variety of businesses ranging from a "mom and
pop" sole proprietor to clients attempting to
secure funding for a high tech start up.
Proprietary SCORE
training includes hands-on participation in
SCORE counseling sessions, in SCORE workshops,
and in SCORE office management.
Training is typically
completed within 90 days of acceptance of the
candidate as a provisional member.

The Silicon Valley SCORE Chapter has openings
for business professionals with general
experience as outlined above. We are also
especially interested in the following specific
background.

skills/knowledge:

Basic web
development (Dreamweaver or Microsoft
Expression, basic HTML, basic CSS)

PHP (intermediate
skill level)

MySQL
(Intermediate skill level)

Simple graphics
creation (can use Adobe
Illustrator/Photoshop and/or Corel Draw
or equivalent)
-
Optional: Simple
Javascript
We also invite
qualified women and members of the minority
community to talk to us about joining our

In addition, we are
